Da Vinci Science Center

MKSD designed a new three-story, 67,000 sq. ft. Science Center located in downtown Allentown, Pennsylvania.

The Da Vinci Science Center’s design goal for the new facility was to bring over 30,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space which would triple their current space just outside the city limits. The concept for this project was “inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s way of seeing connections between and the possibilities within everything around him”.

The Da Vinci Science Center recognizes its key role, both as a teaching and learning experience for children as well as in enhancing the downtown experience. The community will be able to explore science, the human body, otters, and traveling exhibits.

The space also includes classrooms, administration offices, conference rooms, a theater, a cafe and prep kitchen, outdoor gathering spaces, and support spaces.
