Bethlehem Township Volunteer Fire Company
The Bethlehem Township Volunteer Fire Company chose the MKSD Design Team for architectural and engineering design services for the planning, programming, design, specifications and construction administration of an expansion to the fire company’s existing facility on 8th Street in Bethlehem Township.
With the Fire Company’s rapid growth in emergency services to its surrounding community, its existing facility no longer offered adequate space for the fire company’s additional equipment and personnel. The MKSD Design Team collaborated with the fire company to expand and renovate its existing facility to meet these operational efficiency space needs.
The project includes site redevelopment, grading, site lighting, parking, fire vehicle access design of the adjacent residential property and accessibility to second level functions by providing an elevator. An innovative green design element is a rainwater harvesting system incorporated into the building roof drainage to collect rainwater on the roof and stored in underground tanks, which is then reused to fill the pumpers or wash the fire apparatus.
